Volunteering at the house
Give a little time and get a lot back!
Ever thought you might enjoy giving some time to a worthwhile cause? Thought about how rewarding it could be to help children learn, interact and play? Or just provide a listening ear to a lonely person!
With just one or two hours a week you can make a big difference to lots of people’s lives…including your own by volunteering at the house!
We will give you training and support, including DBS check, encourage you to learn new skills and get involved as much or as little as you want. All of our volunteers are also able to access courses including:
- Customer service
- Personal and professional boundaries
- Equal opportunities
- Safeguarding children and young people
- Child protection policy and procedures
- Lone working
- Food hygiene
- Risk assessments
Our volunteering roles are varied and include:
Food distributors – collecting from locations such as Bookers, Sainsburys and Waitrose you will then bring their food donations back to the house, sort through it and put it away ready for our food bank collection days
Housekeeping – this will see you helping new people to complete registration forms, pick up food, offer tea / coffee and a friendly ear. You would also help with keeping the different areas of the house tidy such as the art room, kitchen etc
IT Support – you will help people to get on line, provide assistance with job searches and Universal Credit claims. Showing people how to use their mobile phones including adding diary entries to keep them on track with appointments
So what is stopping you? Contact us on 01903 215 799 or drop in for a chat and find out what difference you could make!
Please note all volunteers must pass a DBS (formerly CRB) check.
