The Community House is a unique, informal drop in facility where people can meet up, take part in activities or drop in for help, advice and a listening ear when it is needed. It’s a relaxed friendly environment where everyone is welcome and you will always be greeted with a smile!
Based in the heart of East Worthing , the house was launched by Worthing Homes in 2007 with the help of some local residents. In 2009 the Community House was awarded £500k from the Big Lottery Fund which helped the house to increase its activity offering and engage with more people; with a further award of £350k from the Big Lottery Fund made in 2014.
Alongside a variety of activities and opportunities such as coffee mornings, after school clubs, and education and training the house offers more practical help such as access to computers and the internet, the use of a telephone, help to fill in important forms and signposting to external agencies who can help with issues that people may be facing such as substance misuse, financial problems or are feeling isolated.
All of the staff and volunteers at the house are DBS (formally CRB) checked.
We have recently commissioned an evaluation report on the work of the house which you can read here.
